Last Monday myself, the seller, and the buyers made settlement on the house that I lived in for 30 years. I had moved from the house three months prior to the settlement. Nevertheless, the experience brought back a flood of memories. This house was the place where our son completed his high school and college years; the place where my husband and I finished our doctorates; the place where we retired from our jobs; the launching pad of our many trips abroad together; the spot where we entertained friends and family; the location where my spouse died in my arms. While those memories were bitter-sweet, none of them made me regret my decision to sell the house. That is because all of the above are experiences. Experiences can never be taken away from one’s life story. In the present moment, those experiences provide the thresh hold of the next chapter in any one’s story. I for one am grateful for the experiences of today; and, I look forward to those of tomorrow.
